Unchecked and unwarranted government surveillance programs have a long and storied history in our country. Recently, these programs have collected our telephone metadata in bulk, deployed stingray devices with no oversight, intercepted phone calls and emails, monitored political protests and faith organizations, and more.
The policy debates surrounding these policies and programs have often left communities of color out of the discussion, despite their disproportionate exposure to government surveillance. EFF's Shahid Buttar will participate on a panel and discussion about the role of race and racism in the movement for surveillance reform.
