Katitza Rodriguez, EFF’s International Rights Director, will participate in a panel discussion entitled "Clear and Present Danger: Attempts to Change Internet Governance and Implications for Press Freedom." The discussion is being organized by the Center for International Media Assistance (CIMA) at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). It will be held from 10:30 to noon on June 26 at 1025 F Street, N.W., Suite 800, in Washington, DC.

In November, the United Nations will host its seventh annual Internet Governance Forum in Azerbaijan, and in December, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a United Nations agency, will hold a meeting of world governments to renegotiate a treaty and discuss proposals touching on Internet governance. With these imporant meetings on the horizon, what are the drivers for changing the current Internet governance model? What is at stake for journalists and freedom of expression advocates? And how imminent are such changes? Join CIMA and NED for a panel discussion where speakers will address the potential impact of changes to Internet regulation and the state of global Internet freedom.
